Our History
A Legacy of Academic Excellence and Global Engagement in International Studies
The Journey of Excellence
Both editions of the Conference were organized by the International Relations Students Association (IRSA) under the supervision of Dr. Sami Raza, former Coordinator of IRSA and currently the Chairperson of the Department of International Relations. His guidance ensured that the Conferences adhered to academic standards while remaining inclusive and student-centered. The selection of Baragali Campus as the venue provided a conducive environment for focused learning, discussion, and scholarly interaction away from routine academic settings.
The International Studies Conference has been distinguished by its interdisciplinary character. Alongside the Department of International Relations, several departments and academic units collaborated in organizing and contributing to the Conferences. These included the Department of History, Department of Regional Studies, Area Study Centre, Department of Economics, and the Department of Political Science. This collaborative framework enriched the academic scope of the Conferences and encouraged cross-disciplinary perspectives on regional and global issues.
Beyond academic engagement, the Conferences also offered participants a balanced experience that combined educational and co-curricular benefits. Students were provided opportunities to present research, engage in critical discussions, and interact with peers and faculty from diverse academic backgrounds, while also benefiting from the residential and interactive setting of the Baragali Campus. Collectively, these early editions laid the foundation for the Conference as a recurring academic forum dedicated to advancing research culture and intellectual development within the University and beyond.
